Cottagecore Writing Prompts

• Your farm cat just had 5 kittens! What will you name them? How will each live out their days?

• The old train heading to the countryside is leaving the station with four very different people aboard. Why are each of them leaving the city?

• List all of the fruits you can think of and what makes each one wonderful. How does a peach feel in your hand? How about in your mouth? What is so unique about pomegranates?

• Vividly describe washing clothes over a wooden washboard in a bubbling stream. What garments are you cleaning? How did they get dirty? How does the running water feel on your hands?

• Someone at a tea party has a secret. Who could it be? How does it slip out? And what happens afterwards?

• Describe a day in the life of a pastry baker. Who do they encounter coming into their shop? What desserts must they prepare before closing time? Don’t forget to detail the aromas and flavors all around.

• Find a picturesque nature photograph and use it as the setting for an outdoorsy adventure tale.

• Choose a farm animal and detail its backstory before it arrived at the barnyard? Where did it live previously and what occurred during its former life?

• Describe an apple pie in great detail. How does the crust’s texture feel? What colors make up the filling which is bursting beneath the woven layer? Explain the rich scents it emits.
